A simply unforgettable, perfect and authentic Karamoja Boda Boda tour – We were looking for a Tour Operator to help us meet the local tribes for a few days, in the most authentic way, with our tent.
After explaining our project to Theo (the creator of the agency – Kara-Tunga Tours – a person simply adorable, in love with his region and who, in addition, donates a large amount of the money collected to the local communities), we went for a few days on the road with motorcycles to discover the Karamoja region and its tribes. It was just incredible, even better than anything we could hope for. The motorcycles drivers were perfect, we had several different guides over the days (and themselves from the tribes met).
The families who welcomed us were very inspiring, and we were able to exchange on our different cultures and spend incredible days and evenings together. We lived a few days in immersion in Karamaja land, far from the classic touristic paths, and especially in the most authentic way possible. Thanks to Theo and his team for being able to build the experience of our dreams. I also want to point out that we had a small budget (being around the world), and that Theo showed the greatest flexibility in our regard adapting the trip and the activities to our budget.
We never call agencies usually because we prefer independent travel. Kara-Tunga is completely different from the others. Without it, we would never have been able to experience Karamoja, the most fascinating region of Uganda. We also slept in Kara-Tunga’s Safari Camp in Moroto before going on our motorcycles road trip. The rooms are beautiful, clean, there is hot water. The meals are very good and cheap. And what an incredible breakfast!
Anyway, we’ll be back. Congrats for what you do for this beautiful region and its people, congrats for your authenticity, congrats for the shock team you have built.
And thank you for making us live a little dream and passing on your passion for Karamoja. ALAKARA!
Dutch cycling couple Paul Zuidgeest and Kathleen Verhelst are cycling through Africa and passed through Karamoja land with Kara-Tunga that took them to Kidepo Valley National Park.
Well, when I headed for my very first Kara-Tunga adventure I had a rough idea about what was there to come. I knew I was about to Climb Mount Kadam and to spend one night up there.

We stayed in Kara Tunga guest house for three night. The rooms were lovely and clean and the food was the best we had in weeks! Hats off to Ivan the best cook in the country 🙂
