The Ateker Peace Caravan 2022 will be taking place in Kangaten this year, the Caravan participants comprise women, men, elders, kraal leaders, youth, peace actors, political leaders, and tourism and hospitality agents and Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan communities of goodwill for Ateker peoples. The event has been happening annually in different countries and communities.

A returning element of the Ateker Peace Caravan is the “Sports for Peace tournament”. Teams from all Ateker countries play to promote cross-border peace.
Elders blessings and dialogues
The Nyangatom Cultural Festival hosted a large elders dialogue between Toposa, Nyangatom, Turkana and Karamojong. They discussed issues about cross-border peace, security and resources sharing. The meeting was guided by Ateker Peace Caravan coordinators.
The Ateker Peace Caravan coordinators also addressed the audience. They spoke about why the Ateker community has to reunite. Together tackle the challenges and grasp the cross-border opportunities.
Traditional dances
Christmas was a colourful celebration of reuniting the Ateker people, beyond modern borders!
A Karamojong village is also known as “Manyatta” or “Ere” meaning an enclosed residential area, surrounded by sharp thorns and with small entry points for people and a larger entry point for cattle.
