Karamoja Tourism Academy and partners kickstarted the ‘Boost the Employability of Tourism employees in Elgon and Karamoja’ project. 20 ambitious business leaders participated in the first workshop to develop the framework for the 2 years project.
The project aims at addressing the emerging needs of the rapidly developing tourism sector in northeast Uganda. It focuses on equipping staff with key knowledge and skills to help businesses thrive. A few examples are Digital Marketing, Customer Experience, Sustainability, Tourism Product Development and Packaging, Cocktail making, and Coffee Barista.
We are excited to support the project and together build a community-led and competitive regional tourism sector.
The second edition of the Karamoja Tourism Skills Development Coordination Platform (KTSDP) meeting, took place on 18 of February 2021 in Moroto. The purpose of the platform is to strengthen coordination, promotion, and preservation of tourism ecosystem services relevant for job skills creation while ensuring continuous benefits to locals and economies.
With immediate effect (Monday July 26, 2021), the Republic of Kenya has waived the requirement of obtaining a visa to enter Kenya for Pasport holders of Republic of South Sudan. Premised on the principle of reciprocity, the Republic of South Sudan has also waived visa requirements for Kenyans wishing to visit their country.
