Szívemben Született Afrika – “Africa Born in my Heart”: Humanitarian development, not aid: One of the most important principles within our job, is to teach and empower people to change their circumstances for themselves. This is far better than simply providing financial aid alone, as this leads to greater vulnerability. We believe in the power of an individual realising they have options, and that they can make decisions about their lives.
The “More than a bag…” campaign
Don’t let the school desks you see in the footage mislead anyone, they were collected from the surrounding (not nearby at all) schools due to our arrival. This school has only a few pieces, not even a fraction of the hundreds of children. That is why it is a huge change that the children have sustainable and comfortable classroom furniture thanks to SeatPacks.
The maker of SeatPacks
SeatPacks are made by a fantastic Ugandan social enterprise, Zetu Africa. You should check out their website, as they also make beautiful bags that you can use to sneak a little Africa into your everyday life.
We hope that this was the first step of a long-term cooperation and that we will work together a lot more to make this world a little better place.
