Karamoja takes the Crown for Miss Tourism Uganda 2017-2018 with Queen Challa Elma Kapel from Kotido district.
Words can’t describe how proud we are to have the opportunity to show the rich cultural heritage and untouched natural beauty of Karamoja on an international platform through our very own tourism ambassador.
This has been a historical week for Karamoja as the British Government’s Foreign Commonwealth Office uplifted the travel ban for British Citizens to Karamoja and this incredible news is followed up by Karamoja taking the crown to represent the country of Uganda internationally!
We believe that Queen Challa Elma Kapel has the capacity to positively impact the image of the region and improve the livelihoods of our people through tourism.
As Kara-Tunga, we thank the organising body of Miss Tourism Karamoja 2017-2018 to have given us the opportunity to support the queens during the regional bootcamp and giving us a seat on the jury. Also thank you to the Ateker for supporting the region with 4000+ popular votes and an incredible social media campaign.
We congratulate Miss Tourism Uganda 2017-2018 and the runners up. And we are looking forward to see Karamoja and Uganda shine during the international competition.
