Kara-Tunga opens Karamoja’s first Tourist Information Centre along the main street in Moroto town on 1st April 2018.
For 18 months Kara-Tunga has been working hard to draw tourists to the Karamoja region in northeast Uganda. One of the most important lessons we learned is that the lack of information has kept many travellers from taking the eastern route to Kidepo Valley National Park or traveling southwards to Sipi Falls, Mount Elgon, Jinja and Kampala.
Community opportunity
Karamoja Tourist Information Centre offers local entrepreneurs and community members an opportunity to display and market their products and services like tour guides, accommodations, car rentals and local artists.
Tour guides
Local tour guides play an important role in connecting travellers with their natural habitat and rich cultural heritage. The Karamoja Tourist Information Centre offers the ability to book an experienced and reliable local guide for a pre-designed guided tour or a fully customised private expedition.
Arts & Crafts
The Karamoja Tourist Information Centre supports local artists by offering training to improve product quality and providing a market on a prime location to reach a wider audience.
We’re extremely excited to share the historical news that Karamoja has been declared as save to travel zone by the UK Government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
We are excited to share our new Eco Camp at the stunning foothills of Mt Kadam and Pian-Upe Wildlife Reserve. The camp is part of the Karamoja Conservation Zones initiative.
