Karamoja Guides for Uganda Tour Guide Training Assessors – Two years ago we founded the Karamoja Tourism Academy and relied heavily on people from other regions to assess our students. Today we’re celebrating the graduation of our very own Karamoja Guides for Tour Guide Training Assessors.
We are super proud of our team of guides who have been working tirelessly ever since we started. Working to ensure an unforgettable experience for each and every guest visiting Uganda’s Karamoja Land. True ambassadors.
The training
Uganda government and Its Belgian development partner Enabel, are seriously investing in developing tourism in Uganda with emphasis on knowledge and skills of the tourism workforce including tour guides.
In the nearby future, for quality insurance, all service providers in the tourism sector must legally be certified by Uganda’s Directorate of Industrial Training certified assessors and licensed by Uganda Tourism Board.
Assessors
The Kara-Tunga tour guides are the first experienced tour guides from the Karamoja region in Northeast Uganda and part of the development of the Karamoja Tourism Academy.
Due to this training, Kara-Tunga is able to continue its mission to build community-lead tourism sector with capacity within the region.
24th May 2023 – Kara-Tunga Foundation hosted the French Ambassador to Uganda at the Karamoja Museum in Moroto. The ambassador visited our district for the first time to gain inspiration for future culture-related collaborations.
We are glad to have concluded a 2 days training under Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA) on mechanisms to prevent, detect and respond to violence against women (VAW) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the workplace.
GZK recently unveiled the mesmerising documentary “Ateker” by award winning filmmaker Edmond Tamale, in collaboration with Theo Vos of Kara-Tunga Tours, that provides rich cultural experiences and untamed outdoor adventure in Uganda’s Karamoja land. This cinematic journey delved into the cultural tapestry of East Africa, captivating audiences with its evocative storytelling.
