Kara-Tunga Tours and Mountain Slayers Uganda have partnered to organise the first-of-its-kind Karamoja 3 Mountains Challenge 6 Days (3 Peaks • 69 Km • 5,442 m elevation).
From November 17th to 22nd, 2023, participants will tackle three of the least-climbed peaks in Uganda: Mount Kadam, Mount Moroto, and Mount Napak. This challenge is perfect for experienced hikers who are looking for an off-the-beaten-path adventure.
The mountains of Karamoja are an exciting alternative to the more strenuous climbs in East Africa with many of the same attractions, a milder climate, lower elevation, and requiring no special equipment or technical experience.
Different from other mountains in Uganda, these mountains are still inhabited by indigenous communities, which adds a unique cultural experience to the challenge.
Kara-Tunga launches the Karamoja Virtual Tours documentary series to help site guides and host communities to bridge the affects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first edition of the ‘Spirit of Karamoja‘ event was a success with: A social bike ride, crafts market, tour info desk, the Karamoja Quiz and dances. Next on the agenda is: Tour of Karamoja – Uganda Bike Adventure for Education 25 Oct – 4 Nov 2024.
Cattle Auction Markets in Karamoja – This short video explains the importance of livestock marketing in Karamoja, recent trends in market activity, and how Karamoja is acting as a regional hub for livestock trade to other parts of Uganda, as well as Kenya and South Sudan.
Watch the award winning documentary “Ateker” about reuniting people across borders in South Sudan, Karamoja Uganda, Turkana Kenya and Ethiopia. The documentary makers aim at fostering peace, preserving our cultural heritage and promoting cross-border tourism.
