In the first phase, the camp will host biodiversity researchers to ascertain a baseline for our conservation activities. Besides that, it will function as a basecamp for our biodiversity and conservation monitoring team.
From October this year, we are expecting to also host travellers as part of Kara-Tunga Camps network of accommodation facilities in Uganda’s northeastern Karamoja region.
We can’t wait to share this with more people and positively impact the protection, and restoration of biodiversity as well as create economic opportunities for the community.
We have come from far… tourism is positively changing the image of Karamoja and we hope that this collaboration with Uganda Tourism Board, NBS Television, NTV, UBC, can inspire tourism professionals and local communities to embrace Community Tourism in Karamoja as opportunity for inclusive development.
Kara-Tunga gave a Digital Marketing Workshop to 25 Ugandan Tourism Startups as part of their Tourism Entrepreneurs Training facilitated by the Karamoja Tourism Academy and utilising the UKARIMU Academy curriculum.
