Moroto, Uganda, April 22-24, 2024 – A landmark event took place in Karamoja as a total of 32 tourism and hospitality stakeholders from the Karamoja sub-region of Uganda gathered at the Leslona Hotel to participate in a workshop on visitor flow analysis. This workshop marked a significant step towards the development of the much-anticipated Karamoja Destination Management Plan (DMP).
The DMP, a comprehensive blueprint for sustainable tourism development in Karamoja, aims to harness the region’s unique natural and cultural heritage while ensuring the well-being of its communities. The plan was developed through a collaborative process involving key stakeholders, including local communities, tourism businesses, government agencies, and conservation organizations.
The workshop on visitor flow analysis provided valuable insights into the preferences, behaviors, and patterns of tourists visiting Karamoja. These insights will be instrumental in shaping the DMP, ensuring that it aligns with the needs and aspirations of both visitors and local residents.
