Hiking Mount Moroto – There are some places in the far-flung corners of the world that just take your breath away. In a region that has largely been slow to see foreigners explore until recently, Mount Moroto in the Karamojong region of Uganda has got to be one of the most epic mountains you’ve probably never heard about.
4 days in Karamoja and 2 nights up on Mount Moroto had me sunburnt, battered and a bit bruised. We are talking almost 2000 meters of elevation gain on the first day. But in almost every corner and section of the mountain, you’re left looking at a view that you feel is otherworldly. Almost like it’s not entirely real and you walking through some kind of a dreamscape.
By the last day, I was casually walking past some of the most spectacular scenery that on any given day I would be taking a thousand photos of, but due to the overdosing of views, I just couldn’t keep up with capturing it all.
The generosity of the local people, the hunters and cattle keepers living on the mountain that I would bump into, also made this walk something special.
I think I have found my new favourite place in Uganda to visit.

The event entailed some of the most dramatic landscapes, amazing wildlife and some of the richest, most authentic cultural experiences all wrapped up in the most challenging, inspiring and rewarding cycling experience …
