I spent the first 12 years of my life in Uganda, going on many trips throughout the continent with my mother, the fact is however that I have never felt so touched by the rawness of Africa as I was in Karamoja. The trip really blew my expectations and in my mind was a glimpse of how Africa may have looked like thousands of years. If you have the chance to visit Uganda, don’t cut yourself short by only going to the west of the country for your standard safari. If you are looking for a real adventure filled with unforgettable encounters with such a powerful and untouched community, don’t miss Karamoja. – Yuri Blaak
Kara-Tunga hosted a renown Belgium journalist to reveal Uganda’s untouched Karamoja region. He quoted Karamoja as “Off the Beaten Path” and his experience “Out of Africa”. Read his travel report in Belgiums biggest newspaper ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’ featuring the Karamoja region, Kidepo Valley National Park and Authentic cultural tours of Kara-Tunga.

Since its start, Kara-Tunga continues lifting up the culture and the people of Karamoja.
Trekking Uganda’s Mount Kadam with Kenya-based Dutch primatologist Yvonne A. de Jong and American conservationist and ecologist Thomas M. Butynski have had an interest for what lies within the forgotten corners of Uganda’s Karamoja sub-region and bordering Kenya’s Turkana and West-Pokot counties.
Well, when I headed for my very first Kara-Tunga adventure I had a rough idea about what was there to come. I knew I was about to Climb Mount Kadam and to spend one night up there.
