Louis and Margot are hitchhiking through Africa and Kara-Tunga hosted them for three days on our classic Karamoja Boda Boda Tour. They wrote a humbling review about it on TripAdivsor and continued up to Ethiopia whereafter they sent us the following email…
“Dear Kara-Tunga, We visited many other “remote tribes” in the continent, with or without guides, and were sometimes shocked by the bad relation some tribes had with tourists because of the travel agencies who didn’t implicate the communities. A problem that is clearly threatening the way of life of these communities.
We just wanted to tell you that we had by far the best experience with Kara-Tunga, especially in terms of responsible tourism and benefits to the communities. We can just encourage you to continue and we will try to promote Kara-Tunga to all the people we know who plan to visit Africa.
Thank you again for your great work and we hope to see you again somewhere.
Trekking Uganda’s Mount Kadam with Kenya-based Dutch primatologist Yvonne A. de Jong and American conservationist and ecologist Thomas M. Butynski have had an interest for what lies within the forgotten corners of Uganda’s Karamoja sub-region and bordering Kenya’s Turkana and West-Pokot counties.
Ever since I have travelled to Uganda I’ve visited many places already. But Karamoja is different, in a good way, from all the places I’ve been to. A region rich of beautiful nature, beautiful people and a lot of cattle and goats.
Last week with we where taken on a field study tour to the Karamoja region. I have been to this region so many times but this visit was a unique one and a great eye opener.
