I just returned from a weeklong 350-mile cycling tour in the truly remote reaches of Northeast Uganda and Northwest Kenya known as the Tour of Karamoja; and while I feel a little tired from the physical effort, boy do I feel inspired, mentally refreshed, recharged and rejuvenated!
The reason for this, and why I absolutely love the Tour of Karamoja adventure cycling safari and look forward to it every single year is because for me it ticks all the boxes in terms of my highest values (what I am most passionate about) and what triggers my happiness.
I look forward to the Tour of Karamoja because, not only do I get a guaranteed dose of daily Happy Hormones, but a steady dose of all four happy hormones throughout the 7-day adventure:
It enabled me to; Achieve a Goal and complete a task (The challenging 350 miles with over 5,000m of climbing), all while eating lots of food along the way without worrying too much about it
It enabled me to help others by participating in fundraising for vulnerable Karamojong girls’ vocational training)
Loads of Exercise & Laughter. Every single day for 6 to 8 hours during.
Daily uninterrupted bouts of sun exposure, being in nature, mindfulness and meditation.

The Tour of Karamoja 2021 has come to an end with the last 7th day – also known as the Safari Stage – where the participants ride through the breathtaking scenery and encounter the wildlife of Uganda’s most applauded Kidepo Valley National Park.
The proud Karimojong people in Uganda’s northeastern corner live for their cattle and women. Many decades of conflict made Karamoja unthinkable as a tour and travel destination. Today, the doors open to a fascinating culture and a folk refusing to give up their traditions.
