We just returned from mapping a trail through Kenya’s West-Pokot County. The trail is meant for the Warrior Nomad Trail initiative to guide travelers through East Africa’s least travelled areas.
West-Pokot is located across the borders of Uganda’s Karamoja sub-region. It’s easy accessible by road from Amudat District. The main attractions are Mount Mtelo, Lake Turkwel, Nasalot National Reserve, Marish Pass and the traditional Pokot culture.
I just returned from a weeklong 350-mile cycling tour in the truly remote reaches of Northeast Uganda and Northwest Kenya known as the Tour of Karamoja; and while I feel a little tired from the physical effort, boy do I feel inspired, mentally refreshed, recharged and rejuvenated!
David, Oct 2023 – As far as locations go this one is unbeatable. Timu Eco Camp lies high on a mountain ridge with spectacular views in all directions, just being here is worth it.
Karamoja Cultural Event Group Tour – What happens when a trip you have always wanted to make comes for the right price? Subscribe, pack your bags and embark on the journey with strangers. That is exactly what I did when Kara-Tunga advertised this adventure.
“We were 2 friends looking for a small Hike around Mount Moroto and what we experienced was beyond our expectations! Amazing hike organised with beautiful views and villages! Great interaction with the locals as well!” (Read the original review by Eleanor Pairet on Facebook)
