This is not a sightseeing tour, but a participatory experience withe the option to stay a night in a traditional hut in the village (homestay). The traditional Karamoja village tour and homestay possibility are all about sharing the rich cultural heritage of the Karimojong by participating in various domestic activities.

Learn about life in the traditional homestead with a passionate and experienced indigenous guide on an easy walk through the homesteads.

Homestay in a Traditional Village

Spent more time with the community by spending a night sleeping in a traditional hut. Exchange experiences and life stories around the campfire and share a meal with the host family.

A Night in the Kraal (Homestay with the Nomadic Cattle Keepers)

Experience well known Karimojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with former warriors and nowadays passionate cattle herders in the Kraal. Help bringing the cows to the kraal, milking the cow, herding, learn how to identify local greens, experience traditions as spearing a cow for blood to drink and eat roasted and get your own Karimojong name.

Expectations

The Learn how to prepare traditional meals, how to sing and dance to traditional folklore, how to make traditional Karimojong beads accessories, experience the ancient traditions of foreseers, listen to the stories of elders and play traditional Karimojong games.

• Including for experience and walk: Community contribution, experienced guide and water.
• Including for overnight camp: camping gear (mattress, sleeping bag, tent), basic dinner and breakfast plus possibility to shower and refresh at our accommodation.
• Excluding: Transport, tips and personal expenditures

Transport

When coming to Moroto without your own means of transport, you can book transportation at an additional 60,000 per person for motorbike taxi or $50 for vehicle taxi carrying up to 5.
