Position summary
As Executive Chef, you would be responsible to provide the highest food quality, consistent with cost control and profitability margins to maximize guest satisfaction. Ensures that safety, hygiene and sanitation practices are followed.

Background
Kara-Tunga is specialised in developing experiences in Uganda’s northeastern Karamoja sub-region. It offers outdoor adventure activities, cultural exchanges and a network of accommodation facilities.
The accommodation facilities are strategically located throughout the region, aimed at offering travellers a comfortable base during their off-the-beaten-path Uganda adventure.
Responsibilities
Ensures the smooth running of the kitchen department, where all aspects of the guest dining experience throughout the whole Hotel are delivered to the highest level
Works proactively to improve guest satisfaction and comfort, delivering a positive and timely response to enquiries and problem resolution
Develops and implements plans where kitchen initiatives & hotel targets are achieved
Leads and manages the kitchen team, fostering a culture of growth, development and performance within the department
Prepares and is responsible for the departmental budget, ensuring that costs and inventory are controlled, that productivity and performance levels are attained
Builds and maintains effective working relationships with all key stakeholders
Reviews and scrutinizes the performance of the food offering, providing recommendations that will drive financial performance
Ensures adherence and compliance to all legislation where due diligence requirements and best practice activities are planned, delivered and documented for internal and external audit, performing followup as required
Social Responsible Business: show involvement and be interested in environmental and/or social issues by participating in the social responsible program of the
Familiar with industry trends and apply appropriate changes in menus and preparation
Qualifications
Proven experience in kitchen with strong problem solving capabilities
Excellent leadership skills with a hands on approach and lead by example work style
Commitment to exceptional guest service with a passion for the hospitality industry
Ability to find creative solutions, offering advice and recommendations
Personal integrity, with the ability to work in an environment that demands excellence, time and energy
Experienced in using IT systems on various platforms
Strong communication skills
Additional
At least 3 years’ experience as an Executive
Bachelor’s degree required in a related field such as culinary arts, food production or hotel management and other related
Excellent communications, interpersonal and leadership
Good organizational and time management
Good Financial
Problem solving
Must possess excellent working knowledge of English language (both verbal and written)
Travel Required
The position requires travelling within the four districts on quarterly basis to monitor the facilities.
